New Jersey Counties
The New Jersey PWTA requires the buyer or
the seller of real property, with private wells for
drinking water, to have a certified laboratory perform a well water test prior to closing of title. It also requires landlords to test the private well water supplied to their tenants and provide their tenants with a written copy of the results.
Ground water quality varies throughout the state,
based on regional bedrock aquifers, and PWTA test results are used by the NJDEP to further
refine analytical requirements so that those
water wells located in specific geological formations are tested for the appropriate parameters.
